The Archeology of Photography Foundation is pleased to announce a collaboration with the Romanian institution Visual Arts Forum (Asociația Forumul Artelor Vizuale – FAV). The first joint project will be Freedom. Body. Resistance an initiative aimed at promoting contemporary Romanian art in Bulgaria and Poland, offering a new perspective on the changes that have taken place in society and the art scene since 1989.
The initiative begins with the opening of a group exhibition Freedom. Body. Resistance as part of theBUNA Contemporary Art Festival in Varna (May 24 – June 2, 2024, Bulgaria). BUNA is a decentralized international festival supporting the development of the Bulgarian and international contemporary visual scene. The theme of this year’s edition is Nature of Relationships, and the curator is Irina Batkova. BUNA will take place in Varna’s Old Town and will include more than 40 local and international organizations that will present exhibitions, urban interventions, performances and conferences.
Following the premiere in Bulgaria, the exhibition Freedom. Body. Resistance. will be presented at the Archeology of Photography Foundation from September 5-12, 2024.
The works of the following artists will be presented: Dan Perjovschi, Lia Perjovschi, Cristina Irian, Alexandra Dumitrescu, Dragoș Dogioiu, Emil Cristian Ghiță i Raluca Paraschiv, curated by Raluca Oancea.
The theme of the exhibition is the analysis of changes in the political, social and artistic spheres, carried out with the help of photographic archives (public and personal), with the aim of a critical evaluation of recent history. This endeavor was initiated through the creation of the online database “Archives of the Seashore” by the Visual Arts Forum.
